Transfer Admissions FAQs
To give you a rough idea of what may or may not transfer, a transcript evaluation can be completed by our admissions transfer coordinator. The final decision is made by the registrar’s office. Faculty determine applicability of transfer courses to ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ majors and minors.
Submit a transfer evaluation form and our transfer coordinator will review your transcripts to determine what may or may not transfer.
Courses are transferable as long as the credit is earned at regionally-accredited colleges and passed with a C- or better. The courses must be generally comparable with the Mary Baldwin curriculum, but they do not have to be identical to courses in our catalog. Transfer coursework may apply to majors, minors, certification, general education requirements, or general electives.
No. Just the credit transfers, not the grade.
A student’s class standing is determined at the beginning of each semester and will not be changed during that semester. Official transcripts from other institutions must be received by the Office of Admissions in order for the Office of the Registrar to transfer credit to the student’s Mary Baldwin transcript.
- Freshman: 0-26 semester hours
- Sophomore: 27-57 semester hours

If you have earned your associate of arts, associate of science, associate of applied science in nursing or other approved transferable associate’s degree from any regionally accredited college, you meet all ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ general education requirements. Transfer into ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ and you can focus now on your major and career needs. You’ll also develop skills in writing and research through your major and have flexibility to explore a wide variety of minors and certificate options.
If you are transferring to ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ without an associate’s degree (or with an applied associate’s degree), we have a new, more flexible general education curriculum with a 36 credit (12 course) core.
ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ grants transfer credit for collegiate-level coursework from regionally accredited institutions of higher education which is generally congruent with a liberal arts curriculum and was completed at the level of C- or better. Transfer courses need not be identical to courses in the Mary Baldwin curriculum. Transfer coursework may apply to majors, minors, certification, general education requirements, or general electives.
