achievement_danielmetraux Daniel Metraux, professor of Asian studies Attended the 2015 annual conference of the SE Chapter, Association of Asian Studies meeting at UVA. Asian Studies and International Relations major Shekira Ramdass presented a paper, 鈥淭he Socio-Economic Impact of HIV/AIDS on Indian Women,鈥 January 17, which also won top prize in the popular competition for the best undergraduate paper of the year. Metraux presented a paper, 鈥淕eorge Kennan鈥檚 Influential 1905 Depiction of Korea as a 鈥淒egenerate State鈥 and Japan as its Gracious Savior,鈥 at the same conference.

An article, 鈥淭he Malevolent Japanese Seizure of Korea through the Eues of Canadian Journalist Frederick Arthur McKenzie,鈥 appeared in the chapter鈥檚 journal, the听Southeast Review of Asian Studies.
