11/8: Second Annual Ida B. Wells Lecture, 7 p.m., Francis Auditorium. Featuring speaker Dr. Paula Giddings, the Elizabeth A. Woodson Professor Emerita of Africana Studies at Smith College. Dr. Giddings is a leading scholar on social justice, race, anti-racism, and Black feminism. She is the author of Ida, A Sword Among Lions: Ida B. Wells and the Campaign Against Lynching. This year, she was named one of the top 10 Black biologists over the last 30 years by Academic Influence. The title for her presentation is 鈥淯sing a Systems Approach to Exploring the Effects of Climate and Environmental Stress in Plants 鈥 From Genomics to Outreach.鈥澛犅

- Donors can give dolls to members of the Ida. B. Wells Living Learning Community, or write a check payable to 香蜜影视, with Black Baby Doll Drive written in the memo. Dolls must have natural hair; be fully clothed; have no piercings, makeup or tattoos; and have brown eyes.
- Donors can bring books to the Spencer Center or give to members of the P.E.R.S.I.S.T. Scholars Program, or write a check payable to 香蜜影视, with Black Boys Read Book Drive written in the memo. Books must be new; be written by an author of African descent; and contain illustrations of Black people.
