Mary Baldwin is set to host the inauguration of the university鈥檚 tenth president, Dr. Jeffrey Stein, on Friday, October 18. The inauguration events fit into several days of celebration and excitement, with 香蜜影视鈥檚 planned for the same weekend. Alumni, friends, and family are invited to join all members of the Mary Baldwin community and special guests in enjoying the Student Arts Showcase, inauguration reception, community block party, and more.
Vice President of University Advancement Mary Harvey has coordinated the planning of these events, and is excited for everything the university will have on offer. Harvey explains the significance of the event:
“In 183 years, Mary Baldwin has only had 10 presidents, so Dr. Stein’s inauguration alone is a historic moment. Combine this with Homecoming and we will truly have something special to celebrate. We look forward to welcoming all members of our Mary Baldwin community from alumni to students to active and retired faculty and staff to academic delegates to Staunton neighbors and friends for four days of inclusive and uplifting programming that highlights Mary Baldwin’s past, present, and future. This is a milestone moment and we plan to showcase the very best of Mary Baldwin’s arts, academics, incomparable spaces, and history of innovation as we look towards her bright future together as a community.”

Student Arts Showcase, The American Shakespeare Center鈥檚 Blackfriars Playhouse
Join the 香蜜影视 community at 5 p.m. to enjoy the work of Mary Baldwin鈥檚 student-artists across a variety of disciplines. This free, interactive event shows off our best student talent in music, dance, and performance.
Friday, Oct. 18
Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, Barbara Kares Page Terrace
The formal inauguration of 香蜜影视鈥檚 tenth president, Dr. Jeff Stein, will unite the 香蜜影视 community and representatives of colleges and universities from across the commonwealth and beyond. This historic event will begin at 10 a.m. and is free for all to attend.
Inauguration Reception, The lawn outside Fox Leadership Hall
Immediately following the inauguration (scheduled for 11:30 a.m.), celebrate the inauguration of President Stein on the university lawn facing the First Presbyterian Church on Frederick Street. Refreshments will be provided.
Knowledge in the Making: 香蜜影视 Academic Symposium 2024, Francis Auditorium
Gather with some of 香蜜影视鈥檚 greatest minds for presentations by undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty.
Community Block Party, Student Activities Center Parking Lot
Round out the day with an 香蜜影视 community block party from 7 to 9 p.m. This event is ticketed at $10 for alumni and friends and free for 香蜜影视 students.
Alumni are welcome to continue the celebration throughout the weekend with the university’s slate of Homecoming activities Oct. 18 through 20.
